About Us

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at IUST, established in 2016, is committed to advancing engineering education, research, and innovation in both core and emerging domains. Mechanical Engineering remains fundamental to energy systems, manufacturing, transportation, materials, and modern industrial infrastructure—while increasingly integrating automation, robotics, and intelligent technologies. The department offers B.Tech and Ph.D. programs, supported by a team of accomplished faculty engaged in research across design, thermal sciences, manufacturing, materials, control systems, and interdisciplinary technologies. Modern laboratories and workshop facilities provide strong hands-on exposure, ensuring the seamless integration of theory and practice. Expanding its academic vision, the department has launched a Bachelor’s program in Robotics and Automation, strengthening its role in preparing industry-ready graduates for smart manufacturing and advanced engineering systems.
