It is our pleasure to welcome you to the Watson–Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine.
Understanding how biology shapes human health and disease lies at the heart of everything we do. To answer these questions, we bring together expertise in genetics, genomics, cell biology, microbiology, computational biology, and clinical science. Together, these disciplines help us investigate fundamental biological mechanisms and translate new knowledge into advances in the diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of disease. Our work spans the spectrum from fundamental biology to translational research. Through collaborations with leading institutions in India and abroad, we strive to advance our understanding of disease and improve human health.
Training young scientists is central to our mission. We aim to create an environment where students and researchers are encouraged to ask important questions, think critically, and pursue rigorous science. Learning at the Centre extends beyond the laboratory. Through research, workshops, seminars, internships, and collaborative projects, our trainees work alongside experienced scientists, gaining hands-on experience while developing the technical expertise and scientific judgement needed for a career in biomedical research.
Our goal is not simply to teach laboratory techniques, but to help our trainees become independent scientists who are curious, rigorous, ethical, and confident in tackling important scientific questions. We hope they leave the Centre with the knowledge, skills, and mindset to make meaningful contributions to science and society.
As the Centre grows, we remain committed to strengthening basic biomedical research and expanding collaborations across academia, healthcare, industry, and government. Many of today's biomedical challenges cannot be addressed by a single discipline or institution, and we welcome opportunities to work with partners who share our commitment to advancing science and improving human health.
Whether you are a student exploring research, a scientist seeking collaboration, or simply interested in our work, we hope this website gives you a sense of who we are and what we do. We would be delighted to hear from you and explore opportunities for collaboration. We look forward to welcoming you to the Watson–Crick Centre for Molecular Medicine.
